5 geektastic gifts for your kids this Christmas

Pinterest

Earlier today, we promised you some pretty cool Christmas content and here is the first taste.

Our Cool Christmas series opens with some super fun geeky toys. If your kids are one-eighth as nerdy as us, they’ll love these.

Kinetic Creatures

A great gift for the kid who loves building stuff. Kinetic Creatures are DIY mechanical cardboard animals – Elly the elephant, Rory the rhino, and Geno the giraffe. These good looking friends are each made up of cardboard pieces that you assemble using tabs-and-slots. By turning the wire handle the creatures come alive with a simple mechanical motion.

Antwork Toys

We have all been fascinated by ants and spent hours watching their colonies in our childhood (at least I did) so how about taking the ant farming to a whole new level? Welcome Antworks, which is based on a 2003 NASA Space Shuttle experiment to study animal life in space and test how ants successfully tunnel in microgravity. If only this artwork had launched two decades ago, I would have learnt about microgravity while staring, you know, at ants.

My Own Story Time Pad

Which kid wouldn’t enjoy personalised stories starring them (or at least their name)? Add to it a playlist of their favourite songs and even an email from granny. This tablet requires an internet connection for the personalisation features. Very cute.

Chameleon Solar Energy Powered 6 in 1 Robot Kit
This 37-piece kit is not only a whole lot of fun but also teaches kids about how solar energy is used to drive a motor. They can build six different models including planes, boats and wait for it, a puppy. What a great idea to teach them about sustainable practices.

Star Wars R2-D2 Inflatable R/C

Stars Wars. You saw that coming, didn’t you? Operated with remote control, your child can take the Little R2-D2 to playground, piano lessons, or even to war against the Empire. This little geeky guy can move forward, back, left, and right plus perform stunts and 360-degree spins.
